Training aluminum welders in African Malawi.

In African Malawi, Damen Shipyards is building a high-tech aluminum FCS 3307 vessel on-site under Bureau Veritas classification. Because the construction site "Monkey Bay", near lake "Lake Malawi", is not connected to the sea, it is not possible to build this ship elsewhere in the world and sail it to her final destination. All necessary aluminum plates, engines, piping, electricity etc, etc .... is transported in containers over land, and transformed on-site into a jewel of a ship. LAB Verduyn BV. was commissioned to accompany the welding on site and qualify the welding
procedures and welders for the complete range of processes,
welding-positions and other variables.
