Qualification of welding procedure and welders in aluminum.

The company Beerens, located in Werkendam was given the assignment to construct a cabin for the dredger ' IJseldelta ' completely from aluminum. Because this is a seagoing ship classified by Bureau Veritas the company as well as the executive welding personnel had to qualify themselves for such welding.

For this assignment the executive welding personnel welded a number of qualifications with the GMA welding process according to EN ISO 15614-2 and ISO 9606-2. After successfully testing samples by radiographic penetrating research including various destructive tests, a start could be made with the project without encountering any problems later on.
