Weld repair in martensitic “AISI 431” / AISI 316L stainless steel
www.machinebouw.nlMachinebouw van Lieshout BV. had received the task to repair the pair of stirring from the luxury mega yacht. In the stirring, a few welds started to tear on crucial locations. These welds were removed out of caution, and need to be fixed. Also, the welds needed to be heat treated. LAB Verduyn BV. was given the task to make the repairplan and to accompany the repair.
The weld between the shaft and rudderblade is grinded “flush” to Weld test before start of the repair (AISI 431I to AISI 316L)
avoid the risk at cracking because of sharp edges or
undercut to a minimum.
