Welding of a wear resistant hard facing on GS50 "hexagonal drum" casting of a dredger.

At Machinefabriek Schaap BV. in Hardinxveld Giessendam the Netherlands, has been a rough casting machined to a hexagonal drum from a dredger. After this process, the surface where the bucket chain runs over, is welded with a wear-resistant layer achieving a final surface hardness of ≥ 55HRC. Obviously this is a decent job, but with good preparation and a highly motivated welder we have performed a beautiful piece of work.
